Fucking hell Alfs, if you're a freelance journalist then I'm surprised you can't construct your posts more succinctly instead of the five hundred words you usually use!

I think this thread is out of order. It perpetuates a total non story and wrongly (until proven otherwise) connects DG to everything that's gone on. Can we at least wait until there's some evidence before the witch hunt?

No one has said that they watched porn with DG. More likely, he went to bed and the kids took advantage and watched porn. DG discovers this, then, being embarrassed, asks someone to delete the history and or downloads.

But that wouldn't be an interesting story.

As a writer, I have the skills and the tools to make every WHO poster seem like a wonderful person or a total cunt (apart from Private Dancer, who is undoubtedly a total cunt).

It's all spin and best ignored.

i don't believe gradi did any noncing

but he did some strange things. he lives in a big converted farm house with a swimming pool and he had lads stopping there all the time. my mate's brother is best mate with DA and he used to rip him calling him one of darios bum boys, this would have been a couple of years after bennell got done.

some of the shit that went down is unreal i can't believe being a parent now how it wasn't obvious to older people but fuck knows.

walters btw was an absolute amazing player at crewe and nearly signed for Liverpool for a million quid a few but went off the rails. i think he captained England amateurs. another mate of mine did work experience with him at Iceland of all places when he was at Northwich vics and he loved a class a or 2. those bastards fucked so many lives up

Sorry to hear about your mate, but hasn't somebody just been done for that? If my source (the Grauniad) is correct, Bennell was at Crewe from 1985-1992, exactly when you friend was being abused (as I strongly suspect he was).

I can't really believe this was such common knowledge and ongoing for so long after he left that the good people of Crewe continued to send their sons to be abused at the club. i've heard Danny Murphy talk about Gradi in glowing terms, and if he knows anything about it, the man is innocent.

From the Standard:

i'm a crewe lad and i was born in 1980. i played primary school football for a team that had arguably the best player of his age group in south Cheshire. he was so good that our teacher played him at centre half just to let the rest of our team get the ball as when he played up front or in midfield he would get the ball and skin everyone and score. all the girls loved him, he had a floppy curtains haircut and all the lads tried to copy him as we all idolised him. at 11 years old every kid my age, even lads from other schools who you rarely talked too thought he was the bollox.
when we went to senior school we drifted apart as you naturally do. but i remember his personality changing dramatically. he stopped playing football and started taking drugs and abusing himself. he went from being the best player in Cheshire playing in the alex junior teams to leaving school early
a few years years later i heard he hung himself in a flat in leeds- even though i hadn't spoke to him in nearly 10 years i was so sad at the waste of such an enigmatic great lad who at 11 had the his little local world at his feet

everyone had an inkling what was happening at crewe alex - i can't write some of the other allegations but it feels the trade for young man to have a career in football the trade off was to be abused and that was accepted. there is more to come from this story and i only hope that the victims, the club and the great people of the town can rise above the evil that some thought was acceptable for football

I'm assuming there is a lot of other information out there on Gradi? That article, though quite iffy sounding doesn't, on its own, say that much does it? Genuine question, I've not really been reading about the nonce Bennall or whatever his name is.

Knew nothing of Barry B until evrything went mainstream, but this bloke was tarnished with accusation, and I choose my words carefully, upon the interweb a long time ago, the Palace departure years back was suggested

I always admired the way he stuck with little Crewe as he was massively admired throughout the game as a developer of young talent.

It's going to turn out that he stayed there to help keep his nefarious deeds out of the spotlight, isn't it?

And "developer of young talent" is going to turn into a euphemism for something nasty.

he was featured a fair bit in the bennell documentary, it came across as him just turning a blind eye to it which is bad enough. the FA should also be brought in to this, seeing as they were warned plenty of times about the cunt and refused to get involved
